Haxby United eased their relegation worries in York Minster Engineering Football League reserve ‘A’ with a 2-0 home win over Dringhouses.

Nathan O’Dwyer hit the opener and a first win in five for Haxby was confirmed when Kieran Harris doubled the advantage.

Two goals from Keystones’ Jacob Noble failed to end a run of 12 games without a win as they lost 3-2 at home to Copmanthorpe.

Cop needed a last-minute goal from Stu Auton – his second of the match – to win it after Matt Pearson had earlier given them the lead. Only one game was scheduled in reserve ‘B’ and Church Fenton took full advantage as they beat leaders Hamilton Panthers 2-0 for the second time this season to move within three points of the top of the table.

Chris Parker came off the bench to score both goals for White Horse, who are now unbeaten in seven. In reserve ‘C’, hosts Rowntrees went down 5-2 to fellow form side Tockwith.

Nestlé were defending a four-match unbeaten run, while Tockwith were looking for a fifth away game without defeat.

Dan Marshall got both Rowntrees goals to extend his scoring sequence to four games, but Michael Harper (2), Simon Lewis, Chris Newby and Stuart Longbottom won it for Tockwith.

Thorpe won 4-1 at Hemingbrough to end a run of four games without a win. Tom Grundy hit the only goal for the hosts.

Reserve ‘D’ leaders Selby RSSC suffered their first defeat of the season as they went down 7-1 to F1 Racing.

Luke Lambert got the Selby goal, while Neil Yeowart and Richard Proctor both hit hat-tricks for F1 to add to a Daryl Boulton goal.

Strensall consolidated second position in the table with a 7-0 home win over Bishop Wilton, thanks to goals from Joe Davidson (2), Jamie Lawrence (3), Danny Morrison and James Whelan.

The Reserve Cup got under way with a shock result as holders Tadcaster Magnets crashed out 5-2 to Fox.

Magnets defeated three reserve ‘A’ sides on their way to lifting the cup last season, but they went out to a side languishing in the re-election zone of reserve ‘D’.

Tom Deighton hit a hat-trick for Fox to add to goals from Gordon Mitchell and Will Leaft.

In the only other tie played, Malton & Norton defeated reserve ‘B’ rivals Aviva 5-1 with goals from Ed Marwood, Rob Thackray (2), Joe Jefferson and an own goal.

Jimmy Allinson hit the Aviva response.

Melbourne made an excellent start in the recently-created Division Four Trophy.

Goals from Will Simpson, Nick Boyd and Ben Thompson earned a 3-2 home win over Selby Town.
